1970's Seditionaries Safety Pin Queen Muslin By Vivienne Westwood and Malcom McLaren

Size: OS (Fits M)

For sale here we have one of if not the most iconic designs from Vivienne Westwoods early works at Seditionaries. The graphic references the Sex Pistols 'God Save the Queen' imagery, one of the most iconic graphics in punk history. Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren used the Queen’s portrait as deliberate provocation, turning a symbol of British authority into a challenge against nationalism, and conformity back in 1970's Britain. The torn, raw construction and confrontational print reflect a time when clothing was used as protest rather than decoration. This piece specifically is a piece of history that represents the core of punk’s most disruptive moments, and Seditionaries’ lasting influence on fashion and culture.

This muslin was previously owned by the iconic Pete Burns of Dead or Alive and comes directly from his collection, with no other previous owners.
